About Our Coast Line

The Oregon Coast is a highly varied landscape of nearly 300 miles in length. There are stretches of flatt sand and waves and stretches of shear cliffs and crashing water and everything in between.  It feels rough and rugged, unfinished, because it is being created each day as the relentless waves pound against the rock walls and creating new sand and exposing new cliffs. It is a rich treasure trove for the landscape photographer.

Conversations

Today, Susan and I spent the evening talking with a passionate young lady who is getting into photography. She shared what her mentor has been telling her and listened to what we had to say. Much of it was contradicting. Her mentor has been telling her to under expose...

Long lens or macro

For most of photographic life I have used extension tubes or very long lenses for closeup and macro work. The concept of having a dedicated macro lens was foreign to me. It seemed an unnecessary luxury. When I transitioned to OM Sytems the lenses included not just...

Capture the Beauty of Oregon's Coast

Photographing the shoreline comes with many challenges and adventures. The above video clip shows why one must always be watchful. Yes, that is me and yes, I got quite wet. Thankfully I and my gear were fine.
